This is a short post about the superb execution of breakfast by the German people because there is one thing that Germans do that is above all else. Above German cars, above German engineering, above lederhosen and Oktoberfest. BREAKFAST. There is nothing I look forward to more than waking up, because Brötchen and quark (kind of sour cream, kind of yogurt) and sure to come. The American panncakes and eggs tradition quivers at the sight of a German breakfast spread. A full English breakfast feels empty when it takes in the sight of a table at 8 AM in Germany. A French croissant crumbles when held in comparison to fresh, German bread. (of course this is exaggerated, all breakfast is good). A German breakfast is as efficient as it is delicious. Usually, the table is covered in fresh meat, vegtables, eggs, bread, and various toppings, although occassionally soup is also served. I would like to share with you some photos of such a breakfast.
This beautiful spread was during my trip to southern Germany.
So, if you ever come to Germany, please don’t ever skip breakfast,
Abby
I don’t know Abby, my breakfasts are LEGENDARY!
